IGDA Chicago has been an official chapter of the IGDA since 2001 and is dedicated to helping improve the game development community in Chicago and the surrounding areas. We host a variety of events including panels, jams, tournaments, and mixers. The past two years have seen some of our best events yet including sold-out panels on crowdfunding and entrepreneurship; a Q&A with Brenda and John Romero; our third annual Chicago Game Jam (which gained press in the Chicago Tribune); and our second annual summer picnic which lets us relax and socialize with our families and friends.
In addition to helping developers, students, and press learn, grow, and network we try to give back to the community at large as well. This past year our annual holiday mixer – co-ran with our local Industry Night group – raised over two thousand dollars for the local children’s hospital.
Our chapter continues to grow and can be found on several social media networks including LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, and our very active Facebook group. You can learn more about our events, where to find us on social media, and how to get involved on our website here: http://igdachicago.com/
Lastly, IGDA Chicago would like to give a huge shout out and thank you to all of its event attendees, members, speakers, community partners, sponsors, and, most importantly, our volunteers – we couldn’t do all that we do without you!
